Since we’ve started this blog, we haven’t posted much about our personal life per say, except when it comes to our story about living in a camper and paying off our debt.
Since we recently had a pretty significant life shift, I thought I’d share what’s been up in our world lately. I feel like it’s been awhile since I’ve been able to focus on the blog entirely because of our recent move across the country and concentrate on finishing up graduate school. However, that will all change in May when I graduate.
Some of you know this, but we’ve always had the itch to move across the country or out of the country for that matter.
Over the years we’ve discussed many different places we’d like to move. We’ve probably applied for a hundred jobs between us. Let me tell you job hunting sucks. It’s a grind!
As life always does, it sort of chooses for you. I am a firm believer in setting yourself up for success when it comes to life, but at the end of the day, you can only control so much.
Much like our recent move, we didn’t know where we would end up. That’s both exciting and a little nerve wrecking depending on your personality type.
We officially ended up moving to the Pacific Northwest. It’s a place that offers a lot of what we like to do. It’s off the beaten path a little bit. We considered moving to Denver, D.C. and a few other places but at the end of the day, the right job opportunity for Jenna came up out here so we jumped on it!
Honestly, the move all happened pretty fast. We visited during Christmas and about a week after we got home, she had the offer, and the job and her new employer wanted us to move pretty quickly. So, we packed up all of our stuff, got a moving truck, and were off to call a new place home.
All in all, the trip was 26 hours. It was pretty fun. I got to listen to all of my favorite podcasts and Jenna had plenty of time to browse Instagram.
We’ve always loved road trips and time to explore together. Before we moved, I had thought about the time that we would end up moving and what it would be like. To be honest, when it came down to actually moving, it was stressful, haha.
It was fun, don’t get me wrong but I tend to romanticize things like that. At the end of the day, I can’t complain because the entire move went so smoothly. At some point, I’m going to post about what our moving expenses looked like to pull the move off. If that is of interest to you, let me know because I am kinda putting it off, haha.
So far, we’ve been here for a few weeks, and it’s been fun to explore a new city together. We’ve finally got settled into our little apartment in a quiet neighborhood. We’re close by decent hiking, skiing and other outdoors stuff which we’ve really enjoyed! We’ve even hit the slopes once already.
I’m going to try and keep the blogosphere updated on how things are going and potentially blog about our adventures this summer. If you’d like to see more of that style of blogging, let me know in the comments.
Have you ever thought about moving to a new city? What’s holding you back from making the jump? Would love to hear what your experience with moving has been.
